Quinn had her 24hour ambulatory EEG yesterday. They’ve never had anyone that young before and was almost not going to do it. Usually kids that young would have to be hospitalized. Since I wasn’t comfortable staying in a hotel for a routine reading, ambulatory it was!
Message to cars waiting: Ok people! I know buses are not your favorite thing to follow, especially when you are on your way to work or late somewhere but please stop honking at the buses. It doesn’t make us move any faster and just gives me so much anxiety.
Do people really honk at you? You bet they do! Especially if you are putting a child with special needs on the bus. Some cars will even drive through the stop sign on the side of the bus.
Continue reading “Bus stop etiquette”On August 2018, Quinn was on the Keto diet for about 6 months to see if it could improve her seizures. If restricting a little human from indulging in her favorite pasta and all things delicious and carbie sounds like a nightmare to you, your feelings are warranted. However, it is not as disastrous as I had imagined. Here are some tips and tricks we learned in that keto chapter. I’ve even included an easy-cleanup Keto whipped cream recipe at the end that my cubs LOVE to this day! If you have cubs you need to fatten up, don’t miss the recipe!

Quinn does not take medication very well. She’s rare. None of the parents in my epilepsy support group have this problem. NONE! Our neurologist also has the same experience with her patients. Her kids typically take their meds just fine. So we are pretty much left on our own to figure this part out. And we are still figuring it out but perhaps some of our lessons may be of helpful to you.
As all baby cubs do, Quinn has outgrown her car seat and is now ready for a booster seat. She loves the booster seat! I imagine it’s more comfortable for her bigger size. But above all, she loves how she can unbuckle herself! This is great… until it’s not! That’s when I discovered this tool!
On Ty’s birthday week, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention how we used to celebrate Ty. It all began when Ty was just about to turn one years old. He had plenty of Aunts and Uncles who wanted to not just celebrate, but volunteered to make it memorable. With no kids of their own yet, Ty’s parties quickly grew to be creative and elaborate celebrations.
My oldest turns 10 today and it also marks my 10 year anniversary as a Tiger Mom. My family was a little worried about him being born into the year of the tiger 🐯. My parents kept teasing me that it was a tough zodiac sign and he was going to be a “rough” one. So I did what any defiant first-generation Asian American would do against the negative omens about my first born cub. I leaned into my role as his Tiger Mom.
