Keto diet + young kids

On August 2018, Quinn was on the Keto diet for about 6 months to see if it could improve her seizures. If restricting a little human from indulging in her favorite pasta and all things delicious and carbie sounds like a nightmare to you, your feelings are warranted. However, it is not as disastrous as I had imagined. Here are some tips and tricks we learned in that keto chapter. I’ve even included an easy-cleanup Keto whipped cream recipe at the end that my cubs LOVE to this day! If you have cubs you need to fatten up, don’t miss the recipe!

Parent hack: Getting young kids to take medicine

Quinn does not take medication very well. She’s rare. None of the parents in my epilepsy support group have this problem. NONE! Our neurologist also has the same experience with her patients. Her kids typically take their meds just fine. So we are pretty much left on our own to figure this part out. And we are still figuring it out but perhaps some of our lessons may be of helpful to you.

Ty’s birth story

My oldest turns 10 today and it also marks my 10 year anniversary as a Tiger Mom. My family was a little worried about him being born into the year of the tiger 🐯. My parents kept teasing me that it was a tough zodiac sign and he was going to be a “rough” one. So I did what any defiant first-generation Asian American would do against the negative omens about my first born cub. I leaned into my role as his Tiger Mom.
